A quick list of things you need to know about the upcoming STU Delegates’ Election<\/span><\/h5>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

1. How is a delegate nominated?<\/span><\/p>\n

STU Delegates are elected on a biennial basis by STU Members in the schools, in accordance with the total number of members in each school:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Between 3-15 members – one delegate<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Between 16-30 members – two delegates<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Between 31-45 members – three delegates<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Between 46-60 members – four delegates<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 61 and above – five delegates<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \u00a0<\/p>\n

    The right to nominate and elect their Delegates to represent them in their schools is the right of every STU member. The STU members in each school can nominate members who they wish to represent them for the two-year term.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/p>\n

    2. What is the role of a delegate?<\/span><\/p>\n

    Delegates are the vital link between the STU and its members.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Some of the duties and perks of being a Delegate include:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Gaining a deeper understanding of, and being updated on National \/ MOE policies;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Participating in Delegates\u2019 Dialogue to provide feedback or raise any concerns;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Receiving first-hand news on STU\u2019s exclusive promotions;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Sharing STU activities, mementoes and promotions with other members in your school; and<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Referring members in your school to STU if he\/she needs advice on workplace matters.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      3. What happens when there are more nominees than designated?<\/span><\/p>\n

      In the case where the number nominated exceeds the number designated, the School Representative* is required to conduct an election, giving the members at least one week’s notice.<\/span><\/p>\n

      4. What happens if there are fewer than three members in one school?<\/span><\/p>\n

      Schools having fewer than three members each may be grouped together among themselves or with other schools for the purposes of electing delegates and school representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

      *School Representatives are incumbent Delegates appointed by mutual consent of the delegates elected in a school or by the person who attains the highest number of votes in the previous election<\/span><\/p>\n
